What you need to know about STDs and testing (watch presentation)

Safe sex is a simple matter
of making sure you don't have an STD and making sure you don't get an STD.

tSTD was created in 2003
to provide STD counseling and testing. Exclusively.

We understand your situation, help you reach an informed decision, and make your testing experience successful.

Use this (tSTD) website to:
→ Research your situation
→ Evaluate your options
→ Get tested successfully

Your Situation

The reasons to worry about STDs are common: unprotected sex, possible symptoms, positive test results, potential new partner, recent infidelity, and others.

However, determining the right course of action for you starts with your individual situation.

It can be tough understanding STDs, exposures, and test methods. And even tougher getting unbiased, accurate information that actually helps you.

We can help. Without judgment.

Some situations are pretty simple. For example: You had unprotected or unsafe sex a few weeks ago and you're going to be anxious until you make sure you don't have an STD.

Many situations are a bit more involved. You have a symptom. You have a new partner and you want to exchange results reliably and securely. You were tested recently, but you would like a second opinion. You don't know if the medication you are on interferes with bacterial STD testing.

You shouldn't get tested without understanding how testing will help...or won't...in your particular situation. At tSTD, one of our counselors will be glad to talk with you about your situation and help you decide what will help YOU.

Your Options

Why not just go to your doctor?

Many situations are best handled with a doctor visit. Many are not.

Why not just go to a free or low-cost clinic in your area? How do they work? How much time will it take?

What should you get tested for?
Which tests are best?
When should you get tested?

We know the questions, how to find the right answers, and we help thousands of people each month.

Good doctors are a huge asset...and we urge you to consult with yours...even if it's potentially embarrassing. Anyone with obvious symptoms (or pregnant) should see a physician about their STD concerns before getting tested.

However, many doctors are restricted from seeing patients outside their provider network so your visit would have to be submitted to your insurance company. Many doctors won't test for STDs without evidence of symptoms.

The best private testing companies offer convenience, confidentiality, speed, and low cost. They have the advantage of using the national laboratories and their patient service center networks. They can provide very good turnaround on results and secure results sharing between partners.

Your Testing

It may make sense to get tested.

It may make sense to get tested with tSTD. Anonymity could be the issue. Or speed of results. Or sharing results securely with a partner. Or getting to work on time.

What can you expect when you get tested with tSTD?

Well organized, clear choices that make ordering easy.

A flawless visit to the PSC.

Results delivered as quickly as possible, without error.

New websites are easy to create. But building a real testing company with experienced counselors, reliable technology, and great customer service is quite a bit tougher.

The right questions will tell you whether a testing company is good at what they do...or not.

  • Are they focused exclusively on STD testing?
  • Is their pricing clear and all-inclusive?
  • Do they provide hotline support for the PSC visit?
  • Do they display all national laboratory PSC locations?
  • Do they offer HIV by PCR/DNA?
  • Do they offer complete identity control?
  • Do they take full responsibility for successful testing?
